 Materials Needed

  • 1 metal can (cleaned and label removed)
  • Acrylic paint (white recommended)
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue gun and glue sticks
  • Wooden beads
  • Optional: 1 wooden leaf embellishment
  • Faux flowers
  • Twine
  • Mod Podge
  • Paintbrush
  • 1 decorative napkin
  • Floral cutters
  • Optional: Foam floral block
  • Sandpaper
  • Heating tool (or time to air dry)

1. Prep the Can

Start by sanding the surface of your metal can. This helps the paint adhere better and gives a smoother finish. Wipe away any dust or residue with a clean cloth.

2. Paint the Base

Apply white acrylic paint to the can using a paintbrush. You may need 2–3 coats for full coverage. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly—either air dry or use a heating tool to speed up the process.

3. Decorate with Napkin Art

Take your decorative napkin and gently separate the top printed layer from the backing. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the can where you want the napkin to go. Carefully place the napkin over the Mod Podge and smooth it out with your fingers or plastic wrap to remove creases. Once it’s set, apply another layer of Mod Podge over the napkin and dry it with a heating tool.

4. Frame with Twine

Use hot glue to attach twine around the outline of the napkin design. Trim the ends with scissors for a clean finish.

5. Add Bronze Accents

Using a small paintbrush, apply bronze acrylic paint to the wooden leaf embellishment and lightly brush some onto the can for a subtle shimmer.

6. Top Twine Wrap

Wrap twine around the top rim of the can several times. Secure it with hot glue, leaving a small section of twine hanging down.

7. Beads & Leaf Charm

Thread wooden beads onto the hanging twine. Tie a knot at the end and attach the bronze-painted leaf embellishment for a charming touch.

8. Arrange the Florals

Use floral cutters to trim your faux flowers to the desired height. If you prefer, insert a foam floral block into the can to help anchor your arrangement. Place your flowers inside and gently fluff them to achieve fullness.

🍁 Final Touch

Your upcycled fall floral vase is now complete! Place it on a mantel, dining table, or entryway to add a warm, seasonal vibe to your space. This project is not only budget-friendly but also a beautiful way to repurpose materials with heart and creativity.

Celebrate in Style: DIY Patriotic Napkin Rings

Hey everyone! I hope you're doing well. Today, I want to share an easy DIY project. We're going to make patriotic napkin rings using just a few materials. I usually find extra craft supplies in my craft bins because I often shop craft sales at the stores. I got the wooden stars and rings from my local Hobby Lobby store. The great thing about this project is that it's easy and quick. I'll provide you with a materials list and a step-by-step tutorial. Video tutorial Celebrate in Style: DIY Patriotic Napkin Rings Materials Acrylic paint  Gem strips (I'm using the gem strips from Dollar Tree)  E6000 or hot glue  Paintbrush  Wooden stars  Wood rings size 1.89in (4.8cm) Start by painting each of your wooden rings and stars. I chose to paint my rings white. Apply the paint to each ring's outer, back, and inner surface. For the stars, I went with red, white and blue. Next, we will attach the gem strips to each ring. Before adding the gem strips, attach each star to a wo...

How I Styled Six Fall Trays Using Simple Reused Decor

This fall, I wanted to challenge myself to decorate with just a few simple items—things most of us already have tucked away in our craft bins. With one round tray, a Dollar Tree lantern, a battery‑operated LED candle, a handful of faux florals, and a mix of Dollar Tree pumpkins, I created six different autumn looks. Each one feels cozy, seasonal, and unique, all without buying a bunch of new décor. My goal was to show how versatile your everyday pieces can be. By swapping out colors, textures, and small accents, you can build fresh designs that fit your style and your space. Watch the video tutorial Decorating Each Tray My First Tray: Classic Lantern & Autumn Florals For my first tray, I began by placing a round tray on a woven placemat to create a cozy base. Next, I placed the black lantern in the center and added a small LED candle inside. I figured this would provide a soft autumn glow that I love. I took yellow faux florals and arranged them around the lantern to brighten...

Three Easy Candle Jar Ideas for Cozy Porch Décor

Today, I’m sharing a sweet little project in which I decorated a glass jar in three different ways. Each jar has its own personality, glow, and gentle charm. These pieces are perfect for porch décor, but they work beautifully anywhere you want to add a touch of warmth. I love projects like this—simple materials, quiet moments, and a finished piece that feels peaceful and handmade. How to Make Easy Beaded Wine Glass Charms

I love creating small, simple crafts that add a personal touch to gatherings, and these wine glass charms were such a fun project. They’re easy to make, customizable, and perfect for parties, holidays, or even a cozy night in with friends. Each charm slips right onto the stem of a wine glass, making it easy for everyone to keep track of their drink. These charms come together quickly using beads, wire rings, and small metal pendants. You can mix and match colors and charms to fit any theme, and each one turns out a little different — which is part of the fun. Watch the video tutorial Materials Here’s what I used to make my wine glass charms: Wire rings Beads Small metal charms Jewelry pliers If your wire rings need trimming, use wire cutters—mine didn’t, so I didn’t need them for this project.  Choose your beads and charms Pick out the colors and shapes you want to use. I chose soft pinks, purples, and clear beads, along with heart, spiral, and flower charms. Each charm desig...
