DIY Fall Floral Vase: Upcycled Metal Can Tutorial

• 1 metal can (cleaned and label removed)

• Paintbrush
• 1 decorative napkin
• Floral cutters
• Optional: Foam floral block

1. Prep the Can

Start by sanding the surface of your metal can. This helps the paint adhere better and gives a smoother finish. Wipe away any dust or residue with a clean cloth.

2. Paint the Base

Apply white acrylic paint to the can using a paintbrush. You may need 2–3 coats for full coverage. Allow each coat to dry thoroughly—either air dry or use a heating tool to speed up the process.

3. Decorate with Napkin Art

Take your decorative napkin and gently separate the top printed layer from the backing. Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the can where you want the napkin to go. Carefully place the napkin over the Mod Podge and smooth it out with your fingers or plastic wrap to remove creases. Once it’s set, apply another layer of Mod Podge over the napkin and dry it with a heating tool.

4. Frame with Twine

Use hot glue to attach twine around the outline of the napkin design. Trim the ends with scissors for a clean finish.
