Cute Spring Decor: DIY Dollar Tree Frame

Hi everyone! Today, I'm excited to share a simple frame craft using Dollar Tree materials. We'll create an easy Spring frame design with one of their frames. I'll provide a complete materials list, and for those who prefer visual guidance, there will be a video tutorial to follow along with.

Materials for Spring picture frame

Materials:

-4x4 plywood frame (I'm using the frame with the bead design around the front)

-One mini bunny wood decoration (I found a pack at Dollar Tree a few years ago)

-Acrylic paint for painting the bunny (I'm using brown acrylic paint), and light blue paint for the frame

-Spring embellishments - I'm using spring buttons and other decorations for my frame

-Peel-and-stick decorative wallpaper - I found a few new designs at Dollar Tree

-Hot glue

-Paintbrush or spongebrush

Removing the backing from the frame:

Hand removing back of picture frame

Before you begin, remove the backing and the glass. Set the back of the frame aside.

Preparing the peel-and-stick paper:

Hand with pencil tracing

Flip the peel-and-stick paper over. I used the frame's paper insert and placed it on the paper. I traced the shape with a pencil.

Cutting out traced shaped with scissors

I used scissors to cut out the shape on the peel-and-stick paper.

Removing peel and stick backing

Remove the backing of the peel-and-stick paper and apply it to the insert. Note that the glass will not be placed back into the frame.

Applying wallpaper section of frame mount

Applying paint to the frame:

Paint, paintbrush, and frame

Using sponge brush to apply paint to frame

I started with a sponge brush. I dabbed it in the light blue paint and applied it to the frame.

Using smaller paintbrush to apply paint to frame

For smaller areas and between the bead design, I used a smaller paintbrush. Set it aside and allow it to dry, or use a heat tool to speed up the drying process. After the paint has dried, take the backing of the frame mount and reinsert it into the frame.

Painting the bunny decoration:

Painted frame, smaller sponge brush and acrylic paint

Applying paint to wooden bunny decoration

I used a small sponge brush to apply brown paint, thinned with water, to the bunny decoration.

Adding the bunny and other embellishments:

Lastly, I attached the bunny to the frame using hot glue.

I added a small flower button decoration to the bunny just below one of its ears. Additionally, I included a few smaller gem floral embellishments and a mini butterfly to the design.
