DIY Ghost Frame (Easy Dollar Tree Halloween Craft)

Hi everyone! Halloween crafts don’t have to be spooky or complicated, and this little ghost frame is the perfect example. I put it together with a Dollar Tree frame, a few wooden ghosts, some gem buttons, and craft paper I already had in my stash. It’s quick, budget‑friendly, and adds the cutest touch of Halloween charm to any shelf or vignette.

Materials I used for this project

Dollar Tree frame

Wooden ghost cutouts

Craft paper (any color or pattern you like)

Gem buttons or small embellishments

Glue (hot glue or craft glue)

Scissors

Optional: stickers, paint, or extra accents

Take the frame apart

I started by removing the back of the frame, taking out both the cardboard backing and the glass. I set the glass aside for later since I knew I’d be adding the “BOO” letters directly onto it.

Trace your background paper

I used the cardboard backing as my template and traced it onto my purple polka‑dot craft paper. This makes it super easy to get the perfect size without guessing.

Cut out the paper

Once it was traced, I grabbed my scissors and cut out the shape. Nothing fancy — just following the outline.

Put the frame back together

Before adding the decorative paper, I placed the glass back into the frame. Then I laid my cut craft paper over the cardboard backing and re‑inserted everything into the frame so the polka dots showed through the glass.

Decorating the frame

Once I put the frame back together, I started decorating the front. I used hot glue to attach the BOO letters right onto the glass so they sit on top of the background paper. After that, I added my wooden ghosts — one right in the center of the glass and two more on the frame itself to give it a cute, layered look. To finish everything off, I glued on a few gem buttons. It’s such a simple combo, but together the letters, ghosts, and gems make the whole piece feel fun and playful.
