Hello everyone! Happy Autumn! I'm excited that fall has arrived. Today I'm going to share an easy upcycled craft idea with you. We'll be creating Autumn shelf sitter decor using two candle lids. I wasn't sure what to do with my candle lids, but I decided to make fall shelf sitter decor after giving it some thought. If you're ready, let's begin building your very own.
Video Tutorial
Materials
- Two candle lids (wooden or metal)
- Acrylic paint
- Paintbrush
- Mod Podge (optional)
- Craft moss
- Mini wooden mushrooms
- Scissors
- Assorted fall decor (e.g. flowers, fall vase filler glitter leaves, smaller faux succulent flowers in deep purple color)
- Hot glue
Begin by applying acrylic paint to both the wooden lid and wooden mushrooms.
I decided to paint the tops of the wooden mushrooms orange and brown.
First, if your napkin is 2-ply, remove the second layer. Then, use scissors to cut out the designs you want to add to the project. Afterward, use a smaller paintbrush to apply Mod Podge to the wooden lid and attach the cut-out napkin pieces. In my project, I added fall leaves to the bottom section of the wooden lid.
Next, use hot glue to attach the moss to the top section of the lid. Then, add a few deep purple faux succulent flowers to the design.
I also decided to add a few white dots to two of the brown-painted mushrooms.
I decided to skip out on the paint for the next fall shelf sitter.
I cut my design to use in the design. I used a paintbrush and added Mod Podge to add the design.
I added a few assorted fall decorations: faux flowers, two mini foam pumpkins, and gold glitter leaves.
That completes your fall shelf sitter decor. I love that I could reuse my candle lids and create two decor pieces to add to my fall decorations. These are perfect for adding to shelves, trays, mantels, etc. I hope you have enjoyed creating your fall decor.
