Preparing Your Paint Cards
Start by cutting each paint card to your desired size and shape, using either a paper trimmer or scissors to remove any unwanted lettering or branding. This step alone can make the cards feel more intentional, providing you with a clean canvas for decoration. While some people choose to keep the color names visible as a quirky design element, trimming them away can create a smooth, uninterrupted surface for a more minimalist look.
Designing the First Bookmark
For the first card, using bronze decorative tape adds a warm, metallic touch that elevates the overall design. By applying sections of the tape to the top and bottom of the card, you create a balanced frame that draws the eye inward. Once the tape is in place, adding floral stickers introduces softness and personality to the layout. Reusing stickers you already have is not only cost-effective but also a wonderful way to incorporate designs that reflect your style. Selecting flowers that complement the color scheme of the paint card ties everything together beautifully.
Creating the Second Bookmark
The second card follows a nice rhythm like the first one. I used decorative tape and floral stickers. You can use other embellishments that match your style. You can repeat this process to try different color combinations and sticker layouts. This is your chance to be creative—mix metallics, layer stickers, or add washi tape patterns to design a bookmark that is uniquely yours.
Adding Meaning to the Third Bookmark
For the third card, I used a floral sticker with the words "keep going" to add a motivational touch. After placing the sticker, you can enhance the design by punching out a small heart shape. This creates a charming peek-through detail that adds dimension without overwhelming the layout. The tiny cutout becomes a subtle focal point, giving the bookmark a handcrafted character that feels both sweet and intentional.
Finishing Touches
Once your designs are done, use a hole punch to make a small hole at the top of one or all of the cards. This lets you add more personal touches. For the darker card, you can add beads to a piece of string and thread it through the hole. This creates movement, texture, and a fun look for your bookmark. Whether you pick wooden beads, glass beads, or something shiny, the beads make the bookmark feel special.
