Repurposing a Bamboo Serving Tray into a Festive Christmas Sign

 Hello, everyone! Today, I am going to demonstrate a simple way to repurpose your old bamboo serving tray into a festive Christmas sign. By following this creative DIY project, you can add a touch of holiday cheer to your home decor. To begin with, I will provide a list of materials you will need for this project.

One wooden bamboo sign

Decorative napkin

Bead or pearl embellishments

Holiday greenery

Mod Podge

Optional-Mini iron for applying decorative napkin

Paintbrush

Hot glue

Sanding and applying paint

As my bamboo board was from a previous project, I decided to sand down the paint. As I sanded, I liked the finish underneath the top paint surface. So, I decided to keep this look as it had a bit of a worn-out look, which I wanted for my sign. In case your wooden board does not have any paint, this is when you will want to apply paint to your board.

Adding Mod Podge and decorative napkin

Once you have painted or sanded down your wooden board, it's time to start adding your Mod Podge and decorative napkin. First, take your decorative napkin, remove the second layer of the napkin, and then apply a small layer of Mod Podge to the center of your wooden board using a paintbrush.

Though I prefer using the iron-on technique when working with Mod Podge, you can use any technique of your choice. Place your decorative napkin over the Mod Podge surface, take your parchment paper, and place it over the napkin. After your iron is heated, gently go over the parchment paper. Once you remove the paper, the decorative napkin should be smooth and free of wrinkles. I then added a second coat of Mod Podge over the napkin and used my blow dryer to dry it.

Attaching greenery and embellishments

Next, take your greenery and other embellishments, and start adding them. I decided to add greenery around the outer area of my sign, and I used hot glue for this. I also took some pearl embellishments and added them to the decorative napkin design.
