Materials

Mod podge

Wooden hearts

Decorative craft paper

Faux flowers

Twine

Hot glue

Scissors

Floral cutters

Craft knife

Acrylic paint

One pencil for tracing

Step one: Tracing the wooden hearts on decorative paper

Begin by placing your wooden hearts on top
of your decorative paper and using a pencil to trace each heart out. Be sure to trace out the middle heart too.

Use scissors to cut out the hearts
that you traced. Take your traced-out hearts and using a craft knife begin to remove the middle heart.
If you find this difficult, try poking a tiny hole and carefully use your scissors to cut out the middle heart. Repeat these steps when working with your second set of hearts.

Step two: Adding Mod Podge and decorative paper

You are now ready to apply for your Mod Podge. Apply a thin layer of Mod-Podge onto each heart and place your decorative heart over the mod podge. Add a layer of Mod Podge on top of your decorative heart. Use either a blow dryer or heat gun to help dry your Mod Podge. Or you can use other Mod podge techniques that you may find easier.

This is optional, but you can add acrylic paint around the center heart on each of your hearts.

Step three: Adding twine or string

Next, take your craft string, or twine and begin to pull your twine through the top hole on your heart. I used a pencil to poke through the decorative paper when exposing the hole on top. One tip that I will suggest is if you want your wooden hearts to lay flat, I would recommend gluing the hearts to your twine and of course, leaving a gap between each heart.

Step four: Cutting and attaching flowers

Lastly, take your floral cutters and cut your faux flowers. Use your hot glue to attach each flower to your twine. I glued my flowers between each heart.

Your hearts are complete and ready to be displayed. This is such a fun way to decorate the wooden hearts from Dollar Tree. Let me know if you create your very own. I'll see you all soon.
