Materials You'll Need:
  • Wooden pumpkins (in a plywood style — I found mine at Dollar Tree!)
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paint (orange, green, bronze)
  • Paint sponge or stamp sponge
  • Faux foliage
  • Gold wire
  • Wire cutters
  • Hot glue gun
  • Twine (optional for bows)
  • Small square wood blocks (for stands)
  • Paint marker (for names)

1. Paint Your Pumpkins

Start by applying a coat of orange acrylic paint to each wooden pumpkin. One coat was plenty for mine, but feel free to add a second if needed. Let them dry completely.

2. Paint the Stems

Using green acrylic paint, color the stems of each pumpkin. This adds a nice contrast and brings them to life.

3. Add Bronze Accents

Dip a paint sponge or stamp sponge into bronze paint and gently dab around the front of each pumpkin. This gives a beautiful shimmer and depth to your design.

4. Attach Faux Foliage
  • Cut your faux foliage to size using wire or floral cutters.
  • Cut a piece of gold wire long enough to wrap around the foliage stem and thread through the hole in the pumpkin stem.
  • Wrap the wire securely around the stem of the foliage.
  • Thread the wire through the hole in the wooden pumpkin stem.
  • Twist the wire around the wooden stem to secure the foliage in place. This adds both stability and a decorative flourish.
Repeat this process for each pumpkin.

5. Optional: Add Twine Bows
  • Wrap the twine a few times around your hand.
  • Cut the end and pinch the center of the looped twine.
  • Tie it off with a small strand of twine to create a bow.
  • Use hot glue to attach the bow to the top of each pumpkin.

6. Create a Stand

Glue a small square block to the back bottom edge of each pumpkin. This will help them stand upright on your table.

7. Personalize with Names

Using a paint marker, write each guest’s name on the front of the pumpkin. This transforms your craft into a thoughtful place card and keepsake.

🍁 Final Touches

Arrange your pumpkins at each place setting and enjoy the cozy, handmade charm they bring to your Thanksgiving celebration. These little touches go a long way in making your guests feel welcomed and appreciated.
