Materials:

- Mod Podge
- Scissors
- Cardboard cut into 3x3 inch square sections
- Decorative tissue paper
- Paintbrush
- Acrylic paint
- Hot glue
- 10 wooden craft sticks

Step 1: Apply acrylic paint to the cardboard.
I used two cardboard sections, each measuring 3x3 inches.
I started by applying white acrylic paint to both square sections.

Step 2: Cutting the tissue paper and applying Mod Podge.
Next, I used scissors to cut a piece of tissue paper. I applied Mod Podge to each square with a paintbrush. Then, I placed the tissue paper over the Mod Podge and removed any excess before adding a Mod Podge layer to the tissue paper.

Step 3: Attach craft sticks and cardboard.
After that, I used hot glue to attach four craft sticks to each corner of one square section.

Next, I added the second square section to the craft sticks and secured it with hot glue.

Step 4: Adding more craft sticks, a bead, and paint:
Then, I took the remaining craft sticks and incorporated them into the lantern design. I created an X shape with the craft sticks on two sides and the back of the lantern, securing them with hot glue. After adding the craft sticks, I placed a small wooden bead on top and painted both the sticks and the bead with white acrylic paint.

Step 5: Adding flowers, and a battery-operated candle
Lastly, I added a few loose flowers to the top of the lantern. I also placed a battery-operated candle inside the lantern along with some additional flowers.

I love that you can create a lantern by reusing cardboard. It makes a lovely display on a Valentine's Day or Spring mantel.
