Holiday DIY: Gift Bag Framed Art

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share a quick holiday craft with you today. We’ll be creating holiday-themed framed art. I have several gift bags that can be beautifully displayed by combining one with a frame. This is a fantastic way to reuse those holiday gift bags; you can even give the finished project as a gift. This project is beginner-friendly, and you might already have these materials. Below, you'll find a list of materials along with a video tutorial.

Materials for holiday gift bag framed art

**Materials:**

- One frame (I am using an 8 x 10 frame, but any size will work)

- One holiday-themed gift bag

- Epsom salt

- Hot glue or another adhesive

- Craft gems

- Acrylic paint

- Mod Podge

- Optional: Sanding block, assorted craft gems

Picture frame

Start by removing the back of the frame and the glass insert.

Picture frame and sanding block

Next, use a sanding block to gently sand the surface of the frame. I am using a plastic frame, and sanding it before applying paint will help it adhere better.

Frame, paintbrush and paint

After sanding, use a paintbrush to apply acrylic paint to the frame. Be sure to allow the paint to dry completely before adding additional layers. I painted my frame white, then added a few accents of green paint.

Scissors and holiday gift bag

I cut the gift bag to fit the size of the frame, ensuring that the bag I used was roughly the same size as the frame.

Glue and gift bag cut-out

Use hot glue or another adhesive to attach the gift bag to the frame backing that you removed earlier.

Mod Podge, Epsom salt and framed art

If there is a gap between the design on the bag and the frame, use some paint to fill in the area around the bag cut-out design. After you can insert the frame backing into the frame. I decided to not add the glass back to the design.

Using a smaller paintbrush, apply Mod Podge to select areas of your display before sprinkling Epsom salt on top. I added Mod Podge around the trees and along the inside of the frame.

craft gems, and framed art

Finally, add a few assorted craft gems to your design. I love how they add a pop of color and resemble cute ornaments on the trees!

**Quick Tip:** You can also create a bow and attach it to the top of your frame!

Wasn't that simple? For an even easier project, you could use a pre-painted frame to save time. Overall, this is a wonderful craft for reusing those extra gift bags. Thank you for joining me in this creative endeavor. See you soon!
