How to Turn Jars into Festive Holiday Organizers

Hello everyone! I'm so glad you decided to join me today. I'm excited to share one of my favorite upcycling projects with you. I love giving new life to glass jars, plastic containers, and anything else that can be reused for storage. This project is a fantastic way to repurpose these items for organizing craft supplies or even holiday treats, like wrapped candies and more!

Today, we're going to create simple upcycled storage jars. I promise you'll love this project, and these jars also make great gifts! Let's begin building your beautifully decorated holiday storage jars if ready.

**Materials Needed:**

- A plastic or glass container/jar with a lid
- Mod Podge
- Optional: Epsom salt
- Decorative tissue paper
- Decorations (I'm using the following items):
  - Two mini faux gold Christmas trees
  - A mini black holiday truck
  - Two mini metal white stars
  - Faux foliage
- Acrylic paint (I will be using white and black)
- Paintbrush
- Hot glue

Lids and acrylic paint
Applying acrylic paint to lids:

Start by applying acrylic paint to both lids. I chose to paint the red lid white and the white lid black. You will need to apply a few coats of paint to each lid.

Once the lids are painted, set the black lid aside. Use scissors to cut a section of tissue paper. Next, take a paintbrush and apply Mod Podge to the white-painted lid. Place the tissue paper over the Mod Podge, trimming any excess tissue paper from around the lid. Allow the Mod Podge to dry, or use a drying tool to speed up the process, ensuring there are no lines or creases in the paper.

To start, apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to half of the glass jar using a paintbrush. Afterward, sprinkle Epsom salt over the Mod Podge-coated area. If you notice any uncovered spots after applying the salt, use a smaller paintbrush to add more Mod Podge to those areas, then sprinkle additional Epsom salt on top.

Adding Embellishments and Decorative Accessories

Finally, take your decorative accessories and use hot glue to attach them to each lid. For the black lid, I added two gold trees, some green foliage, and a mini black truck. I attached two metal stars along with lighter foliage for the lid featuring the decorative tissue paper design.

These upcycled holiday storage jars are ideal for organizing craft supplies like wooden beads and ribbons. They also make excellent gifts! You can add ribbon or twine along with a handmade gift tag. Consider including a mini DIY craft project in each jar with a handwritten tutorial to make it even more special. The possibilities are endless! Thank you for visiting and crafting with me. I'll see you soon!
