DIY Dollar Tree Block Calendar Redesign

 Hi everyone. 

How have you all been? It has been hot out! So we're just trying to stay cool.

Are you working on any new projects? 

I recently decided to give the block calendar from Dollar Tree a completely new look.  I wanted to share this very simple redo with all of you. 

We'll be working with Mod Podge, paint, and greenery.

Materials

One block calendar

Mod Podge

Decorative paper bag or napkin

Scissors

Paintbrush

Acrylic paint

Faux Greenery/foliage

Pen or pencil for tracing

Start by taking your paper bag or napkin, and use your pen to trace the shape of your calendar.

The best way to trace your calendar out is to place your tissue paper, or paper bag over the front side of your calendar.  **Note** You could skip this step entirely and add yoMod Podgedge to your calendar and apply your napkin or paper to the surface.  I did what worked for me, but always feel free to do what works best for you.

After, take your scissors and cut out the traced shape.

 I decided to add a thin layer of acrylic paint over the top surface of my calendar.

 I did this because I noticed that when I placed my design over the top, I could still see the letters and leaf design.

 Afterward, take your paintbrush and begin to apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the front of your calendar. 

 I know there are so many different tricks when applying Mod Podge

I apply a thin layer, place my decorative paper down over the surface, and use my blow dryer to help when applying it over the Mod Podge

I take a second coat of Mod Podge and add it to the paper.

 Repeat the previous steps.

Next, using a smaller paint brush, start to add your paint to the box section on your calendar. I painted the top, bottom, sides, and inner sections of my calendar. 

After, take your greenery and use hot glue to attach it to the top of the square block.

Your calendar redesign is complete. I enjoyed the previous design, but I wanted a new look. I wanted something that would match my updated decor. I'll add this to my makeup counter near my vanity. I love how simple this was to completely transform using Mod Podge, paint, and a decorative paper bag. I hope you enjoyed this redesign project just as much as I did.
