Holiday Mini Wooden House Upgrade

Hi everyone! I'm so happy you decided to stop by. 

Today we're working on a craft that is so simple to create, and it makes a great add-on to any existing holiday decor. We're creating a design for two wooden houses using some wrapping paper and a few other materials.

Materials needed for this project

Two wooden houses

- These were on sale at Joann's craft store

Mod Podge

White paint

Green paint

Paint brush/ sponge brush

Scissors

Wrapping paper (Any design of your choice)

Pencil, or marker

Optional 

Holiday greenery

Hot glue

Designing your houses

Start off by taking your wrapping paper, and unwrapping it. You will want the design side of your wrapping paper to face down. Take your wooden home, and lay it down on your wrapping paper. Using your marker, begin to trace your house. You will repeat this step for the second house. 

Once you have traced both homes, take your scissors, and cut out the traced shape from the wrapping paper. 

Next, take your homes, and flip them back over. Depending on if you want this design on the back side of your home, you will repeat the first step, if not you will just need this cut out for the front side of your home. 

Now you are ready to apply some mod podge to the front surface of the wooden home. Take your sponge brush and apply a small amount of your mod podge to the wood surface. 

Next, take your cut-out shape, and apply it over the mod podge you just applied onto the wood. Using your fingers, rub any creases, or imperfections out. Once you have done this, take your sponge brush, and apply some mod podge over the wrapping paper. 

Be sure to allow your Mod Podge to dry. Once it has dried, you can use your scissors to make any cuts to expose any openings for the windows. If your wooden home does not have any windows, simply skip this step. I found it easier to use the tip of my permanent marker to trace out, and punch out the openings for each window in my wooden home.

You can now apply some paint to the top and sides of your home. I used some white paint and applied it to the roof of my wooden home. I used about two coats of paint. 

And on the sides of the home, I used Ivy color paint. 

Adding a few touches

This is optional, but if you would like you can add some greenery on the top of your home. Using some hot glue, take some foliage and other decorations, and glue them onto the roof of your home. 

You're all done! It was really a simple, and quick project.  These homes look beautiful when displayed with some added lights, or near a flickering LED battery-operated candle.
